Since the 1970s, the so-called regional union systems have emerged in Germany with the basic idea of being able to use the title records created by other libraries for cataloguing one's own new acquisitions and to bring them together at various central locations for this purpose. Today, the vast majority of academic libraries are connected to one of the six regional union systems. The Gateway Bayern network portal enables searches in the joint catalogue of all Bavarian network libraries and offers the integration of other catalogues and databases into the search.

Our digital library

Use our large selection of electronic resources (DEAL contracts)

The SRH universities have joined the nationwide DEAL agreements concluded under the auspices of the German Rectors' Conference with the largest academic publishers Elsevier, Springer Nature and Wiley. This means that all employees have access to the majority of the electronic journals offered by the three publishers mentioned (over 7,000 eJournals in total) from the summer semester 2024.
The contents of the journals are now available on the respective publisher platforms and can be searched there. The following services are now available for your research:

(D/E - over 2,500 journals from the Elsevier publishing house - interdisciplinary)
Please carry out your search first and then narrow it down in the left-hand column if necessary. The articles marked GREEN are freely available for university members.

(D/E - over 1,700 journals published by Wiley - interdisciplinary)
Please carry out a search first and then restrict to "Journals". (Please do not restrict to "Open Access Content"!) The vast majority of the articles displayed are freely available to university members (symbol: open padlock).

(D/E - over 2,300 journals from Springer-Verlag - interdisciplinary)
Be sure to uncheck the box "Include Preview Only Content" (= paid content)! In the left-hand column, you can restrict eJournal content by selecting the "Article" option, for example; otherwise all licensed content from the university will be displayed.

The Database Information System (DBIS) gives you access to a large number of scientific databases in all subject areas. DBIS is a co-operative service of academic libraries for the use of databases. The databases are presented sorted by subject group or via an alphabetical list of all titles. In addition, a search in titles and content descriptions facilitates the selection of databases relevant to your own needs.

The Fürth campus is involved in the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). This joint project of several libraries provides you with structured and standardised access to academic full-text journals on the Internet. The journals can be sorted by subject or listed alphabetically, you can search for individual titles or call up different display options. The access options to full-text articles are symbolised by a traffic light system.

Note on external access to the electronic services of the Fürth campus

You have unrestricted access to all of the library's online services via the Wi-Fi network on the Fürth campus. Access authorisation to the databases and electronic journals is usually checked via the IP address of the requesting computer. In order for you to be assigned an IP of the Fürth campus, you must authenticate yourself accordingly and dial in. If you log in externally, for example from home, access to certain media may be restricted.
