Finance your international experience! Whether it's a semester abroad, an internship or a study trip - there are numerous scholarship programmes to help you realise your dream of studying internationally. Funding programmes such as Erasmus+ provide you with financial support so that you can focus on learning and discovering new cultures.

Here you will find an overview of various scholarship programmes that will help you realise your dream of studying or doing an internship abroad.

Erasmus+ scholarship for your studies abroad

Erasmus+ is a European Union funding programme that supports students to spend a semester or a whole academic year abroad. The funding covers your tuition fees at the partner university and offers financial support for your living costs.

To apply for the Erasmus+ programme, you should meet the following criteria:

  • You are enrolled at SRH University as a full-time student.
  • You have completed at least one academic year at the start of the planned study abroad programme.
  • You have a good knowledge of the language of instruction at your chosen partner university.

The amount of the mobility grant depends on the duration of your stay and the country group:

  • Country group 1: 600 €/month (e.g. Denmark, Finland, Sweden)
  • Country group 2 and 3: €540/month (e.g. France, Spain, Italy, Poland)
  • Non-EU partner countries: €700/month

Additional top-ups (subsidy increases) are available for

  • Green travel: One-off grant of €50 plus up to 4 subsidised travel days.
  • Students with children: €250/month.
  • Students with a disability or chronic illness: €250/month or up to €15,000 per semester.
  • First degree students and students in employment: €250/month

Before your study abroad programme:

  • Application and nomination: Apply via your faculty and be nominated at the partner university.
  • Submit documents: Submit the Online Learning Agreement (OLA), the Erasmus+ Grant Agreement and the SRH Insurance Declaration to the International Office.
  • Once submitted, 70% of the mobility grant will be paid out before departure.

During your study abroad programme:

  • Arrival Form: Have your arrival confirmed by the host university.
  • If you want to change your course choice, update the Online Learning Agreement accordingly.

After your study abroad programme:

  • Send the Erasmus+ confirmation letter and the EU Survey (final questionnaire) to the Erasmus coordinator.

Erasmus+ scholarship for your internship abroad

Take the opportunity to do a funded internship in Europe!
Have you found an internship in a European country and would like to gain international work experience? The Erasmus+ funding programme supports you in completing your internship without having to worry about funding.

The amount of the Erasmus+ mobility grant depends on the duration of your internship and the country group. Funding is available for stays of at least 2 to a maximum of 12 months at a European host organisation. The grant is paid in two instalments: 70% shortly before your departure and 30% after your return, as soon as all the formalities have been completed.

  • Country group 1 - €750/month for Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden
  • Country group 2 and 3 - € 690/month for Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Republic of North Macedonia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary

Note: Internships in Great Britain are no longer funded.

Additional top-ups for certain students:

  • Green travel (travelling by train/bus) - one-off €50 extra
  • Students with children - an additional €250/month
  • Students with a disability or chronic illness - up to an additional €250/month or up to €15,000 per semester for additional costs
  • First degree students

and working students - an additional €250/month

Before your internship abroad

Before you set off, you need to submit a few important documents:

  1. Erasmus+ Learning Agreement for Traineeships (with signatures of the faculty, host organisation and yourself)
  2. Erasmus+ Grant Agreement (with your details, account number and period of stay)
  3. Insurance declaration (health, liability and accident insurance are mandatory)

After the start of your internship

  • If anything changes in the course of your traineeship, you must update and submit the Erasmus+ Learning Agreement for Traineeships during the mobility.
  • Finally, have the Erasmus+ Confirmation Letter of Traineeship confirmed by the host organisation.

After your internship abroad

Send the Erasmus+ Confirmation Traineeship to the Erasmus coordinator and complete the EU Survey (final questionnaire) as soon as you receive the email.

Good to know!

  • Eligible to participate: All students enrolled at SRH University who have studied for at least one year prior to the start of the internship.
  • Internship types: Compulsory internships, voluntary internships and graduate internships are possible.
  • Application deadlines: For stays until 1 May - deadline 15 March; for stays until 31 December - deadline 15 October.

Erasmus+ Digital Exchange Projects: Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs)

Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) offer you the opportunity to study abroad even if you don't have the time or budget for a longer semester abroad. These programmes combine attendance phases with virtual learning modules and therefore enable flexible participation.

  • Virtual learning units: Preparation and follow-up of learning content online in order to learn independently of time and place.
  • Short-term mobility: At least 5 days attendance phase at one of the partner universities, enabling direct exchange and personal interaction.
  • Financial support: Short-term mobility is financially supported for students and lecturers, making it easier to realise participation in an international exchange.
  • Flexibility: Thanks to the virtual components, you can work on the course content from the comfort of your own home and still gain international experience.
  • Network building: Benefit from working with international students and lecturers and expand your professional and academic network.

Students and lecturers at SRH University who are interested in international exchange programmes can apply for BIPs. The prerequisite is the cooperation of at least three European partner universities, which jointly design the programme.

  • Low-threshold access: Ideal for anyone who is not planning a longer stay abroad but would still like to gain international experience.
  • Academic networking: Teachers can exchange ideas with colleges

from other countries and develop new teaching methods together.

  • Creative collaboration: Students work in an intercultural team and benefit from new perspectives and learning approaches.

PROMOS - Your ticket to worldwide experience

Promoting mobility and broadening international horizons
PROMOS supports stays abroad outside Europe and helps you to realise study and competition trips, specialist courses or internships all over the world. It is the perfect opportunity to internationalise your studies or career.

PROMOS is a mobility programme that provides financial support for stays abroad that are not covered by the Erasmus+ programme. Whether it's a short internship in Australia, a study trip to Asia or a thesis in South America - PROMOS gives you the support you need for your international experience.

  • Study visits (1-6 months): Funding is available for stays at universities outside Europe or European universities without an Erasmus+ partnership. The funding rates are between €350 and €550 per month, depending on the destination country.
  • Internships abroad (6 weeks - 6 months): Internships outside Europe are eligible for funding if they cannot be supported by Erasmus+. Here too, the funding rates are €350 to €550 per month.
  • Specialised courses, summer/winter schools: Subject-related courses with a maximum duration of six weeks. Funding can be up to €500, depending on course fees and budget.
  • Study trips (up to 12 days): Group trips with a scientific focus. Funding varies depending on the destination country and amounts to between €30 and €45 per person per day.
  • Competition trips (up to 12 days): Participation in international student competitions with funding of between €30 and €45 per day and person.

Applications must be submitted in writing to the International Office of SRH University. Make sure to submit all required documents in full and on time.

Important application deadlines:

  • 15 January and 15 March 2024 - for stays abroad and internships in 2024. Further calls for applications may follow depending on the budget.

Documents required for your application

  • For study or competition trips: Programme description, financing plan, list of participants.
  • For study or internship abroad: application form, letter of motivation, financing plan.
  • For specialist courses: transcript of records, course programme, letter of motivation.

After your stay

After your trip or course, you submit a report to the International Office. This report will be published on the SRH University website and should be at least 800 to 1500 words long, supplemented by photos or videos.

Baden-Württemberg Scholarship

Funding for students from Baden-Württemberg and around the world

The Baden-Württemberg Scholarship enables students from both Baden-Württemberg and abroad to spend a semester at a university in the other country. It offers you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with new cultures, build international networks and promote academic exchange.

The scholarship supports international exchange by providing financial support to enable qualified young people to look beyond their own horizons. Forevery participantfrom Baden-Württemberg,a studentfrom abroad comes to Germany, which emphasises the principle of reciprocity and exchange.

  • Outgoings (students from Baden-Württemberg): at least € 600 per month
  • Incoming (students from abroad): at least €700 per month

The funding is paid out as a monthly lump sum and depends on the duration of your stay, which must be at least three months.

Applications are submitted directly via the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung portal. A complete application includes

  • Application form (available on the foundation's portal)
  • Proof of enrolment
  • Letter of motivation (max. 2 DIN A4 pages) for the choice of partner university
  • Curriculum vitae in tabular form
  • Current overview of grades from your previous studies
  • Language certificates (if required, e.g. TOEFL, IELTS)
  • Proof of commitment (voluntary work, special personal circumstances)

HAW.International - Your scholarship for international research experience

Research abroad made easy

The HAW.International scholarship supports Master's students and doctoral candidates who want to combine their research with experience abroad and intercultural exchange. This scholarship offers you the opportunity to gain valuable scientific and cultural experience and advance your academic career.

As part of the DAAD project "International Research Experience @SRH", the HAW.International scholarship supports students and doctoral candidates who are planning a research stay abroad. The aim is to promote and expand international networking and the research strength of SRH University.

  • For Master's students: Support for the preparation of the Master's thesis or a research internship abroad (max. 6 months).
  • For doctoral students: Support for a research stay abroad (max. 6 months).

You can apply via the online portal of the SRH University International Office. The scholarship covers accommodation costs for up to six months, depending on your degree programme and destination country.

  • Enrolment: At SRH University in a Master's degree programme or as a doctoral candidate.
  • Language skills: At least B2 level in English (certified).
  • No double funding: Applicants may not apply for any other scholarships at the same time.
  • Research objective: The Master's or doctorate should be completed after the stay abroad at SRH University.

Scholarship holders are selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Motivation and added value: your personal motivation and the benefit of the stay abroad for your research project.
  • Intercultural interest: Willingness to exchange ideas with international partners.
  • Achievements: Very good academic results and commitment within or outside the university.

The selection committee will decide within six weeks of the application deadline on the awarding of scholarships.

  1. Fill in the online form: Via the SRH University application portal.
  2. Upload documents: CV, letter of motivation, description of research project, transcripts of records, letter of invitation from the host university and language certificate.
  3. Notification: The selection committee will make a decision within six weeks of the application deadline.

The application periods for the HAW.International scholarship are:

  • 01 February to 01 March
  • 01 June to 01 July
  • 01 October to 01 November
