About me

Prof. Dr. habil. Maximilian Schochow has been working at the Department of Education in the Bachelor's and Master's degree program in Medical Education at SRH University's Gera campus since October 2022. He is Academic Program Director of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Medical Education at the Gera campus and Head of the Department of Education at the School of Health, Education and Social Sciences. Since October, he has also been Vice Academic Director (Research & Transfer) of the School of Health, Education and Social Sciences.

In 2003, Prof. Dr. habil. Maximilian Schochow completed his master's degree in theater and political science at the University of Leipzig. He then worked as a research assistant in the BMBF project “The Past Future of Europe” and was awarded his doctorate in 2008 at the University of Leipzig with the thesis “Die Ordnung der Hermaphroditen-Geschlechter. A genealogy of the concept of gender”.

This was followed by teaching and research activities as a research assistant at the University Didactics Center at Leipzig University (2009-10), as a research assistant at the Institute of Political Science at Leipzig University (2010-11) and as a research assistant at the Institute for the History and Ethics of Medicine at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (2011-16).

In 2016, he joined the Institute for History, Theory and Ethics of Medicine at the University of Ulm as a research assistant. He completed his habilitation there in 2018 with a thesis entitled “Zwischen Erziehung, Heilung und Zwang. Closed venereological facilities in the Soviet Occupation Zone/GDR.”

From 2020 to 2022, Prof. Dr. habil. Maximilian Schochow was a teacher of health and nursing at the “Dr. Erich Paulun” vocational school at the Asklepios Klinik Pasewalk and a lecturer at the Department of Health, Nursing and Management at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences.
