About me

Since October 2019, Prof. Dr. Jens Putziger has been Professor of Nutritional Therapy at the SRH Gera Campus.

From 1973 to 1978, Prof. Dr. Jens Putziger successfully completed his university studies in human medicine and training as a specialist in surgery at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. He then obtained the qualification as a nutritional physician according to the curricula of BÄK, BDEM and DGEM.

In 1989, Prof. Dr. Jens Putziger became department head of an intermediate care ward and a clinical nutrition department at the St. Georg Municipal Hospital in Leipzig with outpatient connection and took over the management of an interdisciplinary, integrating network structure "Leipzig Model - Consulting-Training-Coaching°" for the transition of seriously ill patients to the outpatient sector.

In addition, he performed consultations and consults from and in hospitals in the large Leipzig area as well as colleagues, nursing services, home care providers, pharmacies and patients. Prof. Dr. Jens Putziger was involved in the establishment of nutrition teams at various clinics in Germany.

He held numerous lectures, workshops, events and collaborated in several academies. He also created curricula for the training of physicians as well as clinical & ambulatory nursing staff and conducted certification courses.

From 2005 Prof. Dr. Jens Putziger was self-employed: Established his own practice (private practice), registered with the SLAEK as "Special Practice for Nutritional Medicine BDEM".

In 2013, he was certified as a specialist practice for nutritional medicine by the German Association of Nutritional Medicine BDEM°. Since March 2022, Prof. Dr. Jens Putziger has been a member of the examination board for additional training in nutritional medicine.
