Prof. Dr rer. nat. Heike Grimm joined the team of professors at SRH Campus Cologne in the winter semester 2023/24. She contributes her expertise as a professor on the ‘Nutritional Therapy and Counselling’ (Bachelor) and ‘Medical Nutritional Science and Nutritional Therapy’ (Master) degree programmes.
Her academic career began at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg, where she studied biology and graduated with a degree in biology in 1997. She completed her doctorate in the field of Alzheimer's research at the Centre for Molecular Biology in Heidelberg under the supervision of Prof. Dr Konrad Beyreuther. The topic of her dissertation was intracellular Aβ formation, for which she was honoured with the distinction ‘summa cum laude’ in 2002.
After completing her doctorate, Prof Dr Heike Grimm continued her research into Alzheimer's disease and moved to Saarland University in 2006. Since then, her research interests have focussed on nutritional therapeutic approaches to the prevention of Alzheimer's disease. Her work has led to numerous international publications, including a publication in the renowned journal ‘Cell Chemical Biology’ in November 2023. Prof Grimm has a total of over 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, which have been cited over 3300 times. Her h-index is 29 (as of November 2023). Through her many years of research, she has built up an extensive network of national and international scientists.
