Prof. Dr. João Pedro Batista has been a Professor at School of Health, Education and Social Sciences in the dual-study Bachelor’s program in Physiotherapy at the Leverkusen Campus of SRH University since May 2022.
Academic Background
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR) in Brazil in 2006, he obtained a Master’s degree in Health Technology with a focus on Bioengineering from the same university. He then worked for several years as a lecturer in Movement Therapy and Classical Massage Therapy at the Instituto Federal do Paraná (IFPR), where he also took on the leadership of the vocational training program.
In 2016, he earned a PhD in Sports Science from the Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL). His doctoral research was conducted as part of a DAAD-CNPq scholarship at the Department of Rehabilitation and Prevention Technology within the Institute of Applied Medical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University.
Research and Scientific Activities
From 2017 to 2022, Prof. Dr. João Pedro Batista led the Movement Laboratory in the Department of Geriatric Medicine at University Hospital RWTH Aachen. During this time, he was responsible for numerous research projects on biomechanics and movement analysis in older adults. Teaching and Interdisciplinary Approach
In his teaching, Prof. Dr. Batista places great emphasis on evidence-based, interdisciplinary, and patient-centered physiotherapeutic care. He integrates cutting-edge technological developments and digital health approaches to design innovative teaching concepts. A particular focus lies on the teaching of implementation strategies to effectively transfer research findings into physiotherapy practice.
