Water in transformation (Wasser im Wandel): opportunities and challenges for the use of artificial intelligence to resolve water conflicts caused by extreme weather events
Brief description
“Water in Transition” is an international project that deals with the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence (AI) in dealing with water conflicts. The focus is on the question of how AI can be used to respond to extreme weather events such as floods, droughts and storm surges, which are also increasingly occurring in Germany and affecting the quality of water bodies.
A central element of the project is an interdisciplinary symposium that brings together experts, young scientists and students from the fields of water technology, the environment and data science. In formats such as workshops, lectures and a hackathon, innovative ideas for a sustainable approach to water extremes will be developed.
The project promotes international dialog and brings together stakeholders from science, practice and society. This results in technological developments such as AI-supported systems for water quality monitoring and intelligent irrigation solutions. The aim is to strengthen the transfer of knowledge and develop long-term strategies for dealing with water in the face of climate change.
