Brief description

The International Research Experience @SRH project aims to motivate students to pursue a career in science and promote international research collaborations. As part of the project, new, research-oriented study programs are created and the framework conditions for starting an academic career are improved. Various scholarships provide financial support for research-oriented stays abroad as part of Master's and doctoral theses or international research projects.

The aim of the program is to identify international career opportunities and open up new career paths in science.
Prof. Dr. Carsten Diener, Vice Rector Learning and CORE at SRH University & Head of the International Research Experience @SRH project

Project goals

We are pursuing three goals with the International Research Experience @SRH project:

  1. Internationalization of research-oriented teaching
Starting with the “Architecture - Design for the built environment” (M.A.) and “Water Technology” (M.Eng.) degree courses and in cooperation with our partner universities, we are testing a new course offering: the research-oriented “Research Event Series”. Here you have the opportunity to learn through research together with international students and lecturers - both in virtual formats and in a research project week on site in Heidelberg. In the Research Event Series, you will expand your research skills, make new contacts and gain international and intercultural experience
  2. Establishment of international cooperative doctorates
Have you been bitten by the research bug? We strengthen the prospects for young researchers at our university and support your start to an academic career. The establishment of cooperative doctoral programs with our partner universities will give you the opportunity to conduct research in an international context. A newly established Graduate Center will offer you a comprehensive range of advice and support for doctoral candidates and those interested in doing a doctorate. Feel free to contact us!
  3. Expansion of international partner networks
We are constantly working to increase international, research-oriented mobility and expand our international partner network. To this end, we award various research scholarships for students, doctoral candidates, guest lecturers and experts as part of the project. Apply now and take the opportunity to expand your research horizons abroad. A newly created international cooperation database will provide you with information on partner universities, research priorities and cooperation opportunities with international partners.

Publication Prize

SRH University honors outstanding research publications: Researchers at the Heidelberg Campus who have published as part of an international, cooperative research project in the current year can apply for the publication award until November 30. The application is open to all scientific publication formats (articles, monographs, commentaries, etc.).

The prize itself is not endowed. However, a publication grant can be applied for as part of the application: In addition to the award, up to two prize winners can receive a grant of up to €2,500 towards any publication costs incurred. The publication grant serves exclusively to (re-)finance publications (fees, printing and production costs) and is coordinated via the respective school. Proof of publication costs incurred must be provided in the form of invoice receipts.

Application for the publication prize:

To apply, please complete the application form and send it to the Vice Academic Director Research of your School - together with the receipts of your publication, if applicable. At the Research Structure Conference, at least two of the most important publications of the year will be selected to receive the Publication Award. The annual application deadline is November 30.
