Dokumentale Summer Preview

In the module “Project Management” with Prof. Wallhäuser, students of the B.A. Creative Industries Management worked with the Dokumentale summer preview of the film festival and applied what they learned in practice.

The Dokumentale Summer Preview offers Berliners a unique opportunity to engage with outstanding documentaries while also providing a platform for networking, exchanging ideas, and enjoying vibrant social events. This event is a result of a collaboration between the Center for International Media and The Good Media Network.

The Dokumentale, Berlin’s new non-fiction film festival, took place over ten days in October 2024. To give the public a taste of what is to come, The Good Media Network hosted the Dokumentale Summer Preview, a four-day event featuring 13 screenings across six venues. To breathe life to this event series, they partnered up with a Project Management class led by Prof. Ricarda Wallhäuser in the B.A. Creative Industries Management (CIM). So it came that four CIM students - Johanna Fleschhut, Mariana Camacho Perez, Tsvetelina Stankova, and Ahmed Walid - played a crucial role in organizing and executing the event in July.

Prof. Wallhäuser complimented the students for their application of newly learned models and project management strategies, highlighting their ability to adapt and contribute effectively. She expressed her enthusiasm for future collaborations, noting that it is valuable to apply newly learned abilities in collaboration with institutions of the creative industries. The collaboration proved mutually beneficial, with full cinemas and impressive marketing results. As artistic director Anna Ramskogler-Witt noted, “The support from these four outstanding students was invaluable to us. The love and dedication they invested in the fine details added significant value to the events.”

The festival took place at various iconic venues, including Kater Blau at Holzmarkt, Filmtheater Colosseum, KantKino, Freiluftkino Insel in Atelier Gardens, Dokumentationszentrum Flucht Vertreibung Versöhnung, and ACUD Kino. It featured films on topics such as human rights, freedom of speech and expression, and self-love, accompanied by Q&A sessions, art installations, concerts, and DJ sets.
