This pop-up art exhibition was curated and organised by six B.A. Creative Industries Management students who aimed to host a charity event to enjoy cultural experiences without the stresses and strains of our troubling times.
The title of the exhibition, "AMALGATE: start from scratch", paid tribute to those heavily affected by the pandemic, political crisis, and overall struggles of the past few years and helped the artists rebuild and strengthen their businesses.
The project was part of the project management course led by Prof. Dr Svenja Tams. It explored themes such as trauma, migration, flight and pain and how creative expression and art can deal with overpowering negative experiences.
Viewers were able to immerse themselves in the art pieces of 12 talented international artists:
- Alien Kolesnikova,
- Joseph Hahn (@jose.pdf),
- Soulkissesarts (@soulkissesarts_official),
- Robin Rapp (@rapp_robin),

"AMALGATE: start from scratch" ran from Saturday, 9 July to Sunday, 10 July 2022, at the Palestinian Cultural Centre Mozaik in Berlin-Schöneberg. The partnership with the hosts of Mozaik enabled students to curate a warm atmosphere where visitors felt welcome.
The exhibition opened with a vernissage on Saturday, 9 July, with DJs and vocal artists DjoDjo (@djodjo_kassee), Bernard, Ike (@ikexmuna), and fufufelix (@fufufelix).
“AMALGATE: start from scratch” was curated and organised by our students Dior Adler, Luisa Weisberg, Alea Zinner, Clara Biegi, Amitzy Cresto, and Hannah Steen.
AMALGATE has produced positive outcomes. Its proceeds will be donated to Zentrum Überleben (@zentrumueberleben), a Berlin-based charity which supports refugees with survival and migration experiences through rehabilitation and integration. Despite its short duration, the exhibition also enabled artists to build new connections and present their work to new audiences. Its collection of diverse artworks offered visitors provocative perspectives on migration, conflict and sustainability, inspiring talks, and an inclusive atmosphere.
Similarly, students evaluated their project enthusiastically, as expressed by Hannah Steen:
"We, the organisers, grew personally and were euphoric about all the people that visited, those who bought art and donated, and those that praised our work in general."
