Study at SRH Berlin for one semester

1. Apply at your home university for an exchange semester with us and be nominated by April 30 (winter semester) and September 30 (summer semester). You will receive all important information from your college/university.
    
2. As soon as you have been nominated and your home university has informed us about your nomination, we will send you a confirmation. Then you apply via our online portal with the following documents: Copy of your ID, CV, current Transcript of Records, proof of the required B2/C1 language skills (language of instruction). The application deadlines are May the 31st (winter semester) and October the 31st (summer semester).
    
3. We will issue your letter of admission by the end of June (winter semester) or December (summer semester) at the latest. If you need a visa, you will need this document for the visa application. Please check with your German embassy if you need a visa (more information about visas here). At the same time, we will send you the Student Welcome Guide, which contains helpful information about health insurance, housing, etc.
    
4. In July (winter semester) or January (summer semester) you will be enrolled and then you will get access to Ecampus and the course selection portal to choose the appropriate modules. You choose the courses for your semester abroad. In order to ensure that the courses are recognized at your home university, we ask you to discuss your selection with your university.
    
5. You should send us your completed Learning Agreement by the end of July (winter semester) or the end of January (summer semester).

You have very good language skills at B2/C1 level in the language of instruction of your chosen SRH degree program.

You do not pay regular tuition fees, but only your Deutschland ticket for all means of public transport in Berlin.

Every student is required by law to have sufficient health insurance for the entire program duration. The proof of health insurance must be submitted electronically by a public German health insurance. Detailed information is provided in the Welcome Guide. Students who did not organize their electronic proof of health insurance until the semester starts will be blocked from CampusNet. 

Unfortunately, we cannot offer our own student accommodation. However, freemover students receive an updated Welcome Guide from Student Services and can find on our website detailed information on how to find a place to stay in Berlin.  

Some information in advance:  

• Join the Student Council Whats-App Group 
• Further, we recommend AGSA ([email protected], Website in process), where a lot of SRH students rented rooms

• EU-citizens neither need an entry visa nor a residence permit for Germany, but must register as inhabitants of either Berlin, Dresden, or Hamburg, or the city where they live, respectively.  
• Non-EU citizens should always check with the German Embassy in their country of residence if they need a visa for entering Germany. If you already study in the EU, a visa might not be necessary based on the REST directory of the EU. But please make sure by checking with the German embassy in your country of living. If you must apply for a visa, you might have to wait several months for an appointment and the visa process. Unfortunately, we have no influence on either the process or the decisions of the embassy.  
• Residence Permit: Students who must apply for an entry visa, usually also must apply for a residence permit for studying in the city where you reside. In Hamburg and Dresden that is relatively uncomplicated, please refer to the Student Welcome Guide or website. Students registered in Berlin can do this via the SRH Residence Permit Service website. Please contact: [email protected]  
• City Registration (Anmeldung): You need a city registration if you stay longer than 6 months or if you need a Residence Permit. Please make sure that your accommodation is with city registration (Anmeldung)

• You have taken care of the financing of your semester abroad health insurance, including living expenses, rent, etc. (e.g. Erasmus funding, savings)
• You are studying the same course of studies as at SRH University or a similar one
• You have already studied for one year at your University of Applied Sciences and are still enrolled at your college or university.
• You are flexible in your choice of modules and can also attend language courses if necessary
• Your home university is willing to recognize our evaluation system

If your home university is a partner of SRH University, you can be nominated by your home university. If your home university is not a partner of SRH University, you can come as a freemover.

Yes, you can stay for two semesters, but you would have to apply for this at your home university when you are nominated.

If you are not from an EU country, you will most likely need a visa. You can find out more on the website of the German embassy in your country.

You cannot extend your visa in Germany, but you have to apply for a new residence permit. You can do this process via the website of the state office of your city. If you are at SRH Berlin University, we can help you at the Residence Permit Service at Ernst-Reuter-Platz.

Unfortunately, we don't have student apartments, but you can find information about them on our Student Guide and on our website. You can also contact the Student Council, because they have Whatsapp groups where apartments are arranged. 

If you are from an EU country, then you can have your health insurance recognized by an insurance company here in Germany and bring us the copy of the confirmation. If you are not from the EU, then you usually have to join a German health insurance. You can find more information under this link.

All public transportation (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, Tram, Bus) in Berlin (Zone A,B,C).

The Incoming Exchange Coordinator will send you a link for the selection after the application.

If you are enrolled, you will receive the access data for the CampusNet about 6 weeks before the start of the semester and about two weeks before the start of the semester you will be able to view the timetable. Here you can also download the matriculation certificate.

You must have 80% attendance at class, if the modules overlap only a little it is not so dramatic. If it overlaps more than three days, please contact the Incoming Exchange Coordinator. We will help you to find a solution and maybe adjust your Learning Agreement.

It can sometimes take up to a week, but we try to process the documents in 48 hours. Please understand that the documents need to be checked before we can sign them.
