International conference on sustainable urban transport in cities with tourist destinations

05 - 06 June 2025 (World Environment Day) Enhancing Sustainability in Local Travel and Tourism

Calendar entry

Tourism can offer new economic prospects as well as business and employment opportunities. However, (over)tourism can also have negative impacts, such as traffic congestion, price increases, loss of local cultural authenticity, environmental impacts or a deterioration in local air quality. In order to maintain the attractiveness of destinations and ensure positive experiences for residents and visitors, measures and projects that promote the economic, social and environmental sustainability of transport and tourism must be implemented. The conference will discuss various trends and topics and provide a forum to explore proven and emerging technologies, digital solutions and policy options to improve sustainable local mobility in tourism. The main aim of the conference is to deepen co-operation between researchers and practitioners. Regional and national tourism companies are invited to reflect on the topics, scientific findings and international examples, to develop solutions together with the scientific community and to put suitable approaches into practice.
